Project Status
The Fields For Life Campaign is a volunteer driven, grassroots effort to make a difference in our community. We are pleased to keep you informed about the progress that has been made to date on the project.
Design & Construction Update
- Athletica Sport and Recreation Design from Vancouver selected as prime consultant for the project.
- The Design Committee, Athletica and the City of Calgary are proceeding with the Development Permit to produce construction-ready drawings for the project.
- RFP’s for product and civil work have been completed and are awaiting finalization and financing before going to tender.
- Our goal is to have all fields built by the summer of 2010.
Fundraising Update
- The Calgary soccer community has contributed $1 million toward the goal to raise $13 million.
- A team of community volunteers and representatives from three soccer associations and the SUBWAY Soccer Centre has been assembled as our project committee.
- The City of Calgary has approved a grant of $4.5 million toward the project.
- The Government of Alberta has provided a substantial contribution through the Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP).
- CSF is continuing to seek support from all three levels of government, including a request to the Government of Canada Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program.
- On Sunday, January 31, 2010 we will officially kick off our campaign at the SUBWAY Soccer Centre with a Celebrity All Star Game and a special celebration of support received to date.
